A BIG thank you to everyone who helped out at the Mahaffie event this weekend. What a GREAT group of people we have in our UHCA family. This event could not have happened without all of our dedicated members who volunteered to help keep things moving as stewards, runners, timekeepers, announcers, etc.  Thank you to Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm and the City of Olathe for inviting us to be a part of Wild West Days.

Our Buckaroo and Youth contestants demonstrated their cowboy spirit, braving the rain to do some ice fishing and no one will forget Helen Alewine’s victory cry when she made it over the much anticipated bridge.  Kudos to Gary Stewart and Lee Chapman for designing two very exciting and challenging courses.

    Congratulations to our winners:

    Buckaroo: Danali Cramer

    Youth:  Jesse Anderson

    Novice:  Spencer Hawerlander

    Classic: Helen Alewine

    Colt: Josh Rushing

    Intermediate: Joey Jernigan

    Amateur: Helen Alenwine

    Open: Runt Rageth

Pictures and results will be posted in a day or two.

Due to construction, parking will be available on the east side of the tree line that borders the east side of the course. Enter via the Heritage Center @ Mahaffie parking lot on Kansas City Road and park on the North side of the embankment. Look for signs. Please park in such a way to maximize the limited space available to us. Download Map

The final race of the season will be held at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm in Olathe, KS on September 28-29. This is the only event this year that is hosted by UHCA.  All profits from this race go directly to UHCA to help support year-end awards. In order to make the event a success, we need our members (and supporters) to pitch in and help out. We have a number of volunteer opportunities available including, timekeepers, scribes, course setters, setup, tear down, and more. This is a two day event, so Buckaroo, Youth, Novice, Classic, and Colt will run on Saturday and Intermediate, Amateur, and Open will run on Sunday.

Volunteering to help out can be a great way to get to know your fellow members and get more involved in UHCA. Please sign up online via Volunteer Spot to select the task(s) that best fit your schedule. Please keep in mind that if you sign up, we are interpreting this as a firm commitment and will be counting on you at the event.  The success of this event depends on our members and supporters! More information will be forthcoming for those that sign up to volunteer.

Pens will be available for a $15/night rental at the event courtesy of R Bar B Saddle, Tack, and Trailer. To ensure we have enough pens for everyone, please make advance reservations online. Riders are welcome to camp overnight; however, no hookups will be available. There are a number of hotels available in the area as well.
