We are going to take a group picture at our next event, at R Bar B Saddle, Tack and Trailer, on August 16. We will be taking the picture during the lunch break, so be sure to come out and ride and stick around if you are in one of the morning divisions to be included in the picture.  We’d like members to horseback if possible.

Thanks to C5T Ranch and Kristin and Brett Cloud for hosting a great race yesterday in Benton, KS. They did an outstanding job of designing two courses that simulated real ranch work. Thanks to the Bates County Sheriff's Posse crew for putting on another great race. Josh Rushing and Scott Simms did an outstanding job with course design. Special thanks to Holly Rushing, Natalie Umphenhour, and Jami Page for all their hard work as well.

It's our fantastic hosts that make UHCA races possible and they continually come up with new and inventive ways to challenge our horsemanship and our mounts. Putting on a race is no easy feat and we can't show our appreciation enough.

Congratulations to all our riders for the progress they're making with their horses and mules.

Winners for the Bates County Sheriffs Posse event are:
    Buckaroo: Mirah Scott
    Youth: Alexis Shin

Wow! Another great UHCA event this past weekend. A big thank you to the folks at D Bar V Arena in Drexel, MO for putting on a good race. Lee Chapman and Scott Simms did a great job designing some challenging courses. Lee certainly challenged the endurance of both horses and riders on the high-impact course. I think he set the record for the longest course in UHCA history! It was a long, steamy day..., but it was great to visit with friends and meet so many of our new members. Thanks to all of our riders for coming out. We had 93 entries in all. UHCA is certainly growing quickly.

    Congratulations to our winners:
    Buckaroo: Danali Cramer
    Youth: Alexis Shin
    Novice: Brandy VonHolten
    Intermediate: Wes Coffel
    Classic: Marsha Coleman
    Colt: Lee Hart
    Amateur: Jim Ochs
    Open: Lee Hart

A little later than usual, but results of the Mound City event have been posted in the Results section of the website. Year-end points have also been updated. There were a few times that were entered incorrectly the day of the race that have been corrected. This did have some impact on placings for several riders, but none of the corrections impacted year-end points.

Our May 10th Event at Big River Ranch in Lexington, MO has been postponed until further notice.  Because of the outbreak of the EHV-1 virus in Lincoln, NE over the April 12-13 weekend where 2 horses had to be put down (one being from the Lawrence, KS area, euthanized April 24th) our host for our next UHCA Event, Robbie Maupin, has made a very proactive decision.   This decision comes after discussions with veterinarians, Board members and membership who agree that the risk is minimal; however, stopping the movement of horses or large gatherings of horses is the first step in preventing the spread of the virus.  The incubation periods and normal quarantine requirements will not expire until approximately the timeframe of our event and we feel this is the best decision for all to help control this highly-contagious disease.

Please pass the word to other UHCA members and riders who may be heading to the Event on May 10th.  We will be rescheduling the date and let you know as soon as possible.   Thank you for understanding and keep your horses safe.

    Happy Trails…
